I'm playing around with an old pc. I cleared the 250g HDD and partitioned it into C:75g, D:75g, E:50g and F:whatevers left. I've successfully intalled XP on C:. I want to install W7-32 on the D:. I am asked to format D:, and have been prompted that formatting will erase ALL data from the disk. Does this mean the whole 250g will be erased or just the D:?

More about : partition

No, If you have partitioned it will only affect that area.

Just make sure it is indeed set to the drive you want formatted.

Partitioning a drive essentially makes the computer think they are separate drives thanks to the partition table.
