I have a Asus VK24 monitor(the one with the integrated webcam) and I have a weird fault.

The following symptoms are consistent with 2 different computers trying all 3 video interfaces(vga, dvi-d & hdmi) also with 2 different mains leads and wall sockets.

The monitor has a blue led when it's on and is receiving a video signal, orange when not.

And now the symptoms:

When I turn the monitor on the picture shows up for about .8 of a second and then the screen goes black but the blue led stays on. If I unplug the video cable and then plug it in again the video shows up again for .8 of a second and then black screen, again the blue led stays on. Also if I have the monitor on it's own and try to access the on screen menus I encounter the same problem, turn monitor on, screen for .8 of a second, then black with blue led still on.

It's out of a guarantee so posting in case there is any possible fix, thanks

p.s. why isn'' there a monitor sub-category?

I have the same thing on an Asus VW 246 monitor. I read in another forumHERE it is related to a bad capacitor and is commonly referred to as "2 seconds to black."
