Hello, I have a 266 Celeron processor and want to upgrade it to a 500 or 600 Celeron. As long as my motherboard allows for this, will this work? In other words, will the new chip fit where the old chip was or have they changed the slots on the newer ones? Also, I know what FCPGA is, but how can I tell if I can use it or not?

I hope this will help the speed of my computer. I had to get another board after the Cherynoble (sp?) virus came around and this new board, for some reason, won't let me overclock my chip. My old board was jumper controled and this new one is controled in the BIOS. I set the speed to 333 and when it boots up it still says 266. I also benchmarked it and it ran like a 233 PII, so I don't think it took. Oh well, Hopefully getting a new chip (and some more RAM, seeing how the price is so cheap!) will do the trick!

Thanks for your help, Scatt

what voltage does your motherboard support?
the new Celeron's require 1.5 to 1.7 volts.
