I am connected to the internet via broadband and
everything works fine, but every now and then, very
randomly - i lose connection and a little popup tells me
that a network cable is unplugged. I wait 15 seconds and
then it works fine again. Any ideas to fix this - very
much appreciated.

Which Microsoft Broadband Networking hardware are you using, Karl? Some
more details, such as what hardware you're using and which operating system
you're on, would be helpful.
