NPP: Is "steal from monster" supposed to haste self?

I'm trying the "challenge" competition, and found an interesting and
useful side effect....

I saw a sleeping troll sitting on a new ring type. I didn't want to
bother fighting it, so I thought I'd try stealing, see what happened.
Well, the Troll woke up aggravated, and I got nothing. But: I was
hasted too, for as long as the troll stayed alive. If it's not a bug,
I need to befriend a white centipede as a source of haste self...

OK, I got it now. The haste self is problematic, to say the least...

I really wish all the rogue things would get explained actually. From when
people start searching for you to the haste thing. So much information that
would be better off telling us.

Could include the things like traps as well.
