Thermal compound and Slot 1 processors

Could someone please tell me if you need to use thermal compund when attaching a slot 1 CPU to a heat sink?

If your getting the arctic silver- make sure you get the kind for large contact areas.

So me using a P2 350 with only a heat sink and fan is very unhealthy. There is no other contact with the heat sink other than from a little pad...thing.

The pad will work fine unless you overclock it to the point that it gets too hot.
