Argghhhhh, Fock it, you know. I just focked this whole thing up. I am so focking embarrassed. I was not going to tell you guys but a lie eats me out; even if its an E-lie.
Oh, Fock it.
Firstly, I am fully ready to cop a flaming over this like none before. Fock, you could strap me butt naked and drag my sorry ass behind your SUV for five hours over a bitumen road and I think the pain would be focking less than what I am feeling now.
Secondly, I want to thank everyone for the advice they gave: I can tell you 100% that I focked this up by making a few crucial mistakes.
I thought it was going so damn well, you know. Dismantled the old focker, followed instructions from manuals, the web etc and yet I still managed to screw the focker up... Fock it guys, you honestly dont know my anguish - that Gigabyte board is worth $228 Aus and I hate pissin' that money down the drain.
I spent all day on this, all focking day and I really enjoyed the first 6 hours of doing it - that was, of course - until I turned on the new rig and the focker blew.
Took it down to my local pc shop guy and it was only his good English manners that stopped him from laughing in my face, that, and the focking wild man look I had on my face that would have seen me love to get in a fistfight with some piss-head just so I could burn the frustration out of me [I dont condone fistfighting - but fock me, you know what I mean].
You know, I have to grin and bear this, this is life and I really wish that I was not such an inept fock when it comes to shite that requires the use of my hands - I failed junior metalworking and woodworking at school so what the fock was I thinking.
Its as my grandpa used to say though: "You're going to cop em' on the chin if you step into the ring." That adage rang damn true today.
All in all, I am glad I had a go at it - but now I'm drinking at least a few tonight and re-ordering the same mobo.

Awww, man
What you do?

Welcome to my Shed of Pleasure
Ned, my pc guy, Kevin, reckons I had the cpu wrong, the power supply wrongly placed or some shite and he thinks I short-circuited the mobo because of it. It popped when I turned it on.
That beautiful Gigabyte board, all the bells and whistles, I was cherishing it as I put it in - I was excited you know - given that it was my first upgrade in five focking long years.
I told Kevin to order what he needs to and to do the job. My confidence is shattered and I think I need to work on something I can burn up if I'm to ever learn.
I will tell you this though, I am a person who learns well from others, particularly when I'm able to stand there with them and map out a process in my own mind while I watch them do it.
Mate, the pain is there but a few beers later and I'm seeing the lighter side of my stupidity.
Gigabyte would do well to never have me in one of their advertisements. Delicious looking board though, Eden has the same one so that's cool.

Jeez, really sorry man. Don't give up though, we've all focked up at some point.
I'm the good time that was had by all
I ruined TWO amd xp 3000 chips in a row...I dropped a heavy heatsink on one, and miss-aligned the heat sink on the other and chipped it. Both have a hunk off the corners and neither one will boot...
GO BUCKS!
Cheers, Wings! Appreciate that, mate.
Instead of slitting my wrists I'm going over where I went wrong and double checking the mistakes I made.
Here's a lager to Gigabyte for producing such a great board and another swill for me knowing that next week I will have the bugger installed correctly and ready to go.
Jeez, where's a 'Rainbow Party' for adults when you need one????

Now Tee, I dont feel so bad...
Aint it a bastard when you screw it up??? Its like I murdered the poor bugger - its just an electronic board, I know - but when you've worked hard for something, earned it, and then screwed it because of your own stupidity... well, I just cant help but feel like a right royal wanka.
No worries, though, life's not about me busting a Gigabyte board up. I think about the Chinese or Taiwanese person and machine that put it together, knowing they worked hard to produce a great proudct that some stupid Westerner couldn't get his head around...
This week, I've earned THGC's BIGGEST DIY WANKA OF THE WEEK GOES TO... THE BOMBER.

Don't blame yourself too much Bill. Could have a duff board out the box that was gonna pop anyway. We've all had those fubar moments, welcome to the club mate.
Blame the hardware. Always a good idea.

This is probably my fault. DAMN I feel bad for pushing you towards doing it yourself. Dont let the comp shop just have that board, unless they are going to give you a credit. Get proof of puchase and RMA that bastard straight to Gigabyte. I feel like this is my fault. If nothing else, send the board to me and I will get it fixed. If I have to pay Gigabyte to fix it then so-be-it. Im sorry this happened Bill.

Yeah, jeez, what's going on there. I spent as wisely as I could and I spent months chasing the best prices. Those guys, Spacedonkey especially, is throwing dollars after dollars after hardware that is 'supposed' to be the latest arse-tearing, speed-burning, all conquering pc hardware out there.
Then there's the guy with bucket loads driving a CLK Mercedes with more money then most of us....

Mozz, you're a top man for saying that but I'm a grown man, bud. There is no way known that this is your fault. Dont for a second believe that.
I wanted to have a crack at it; sure, I had doubts, but fear is the enemy within and you dont conquer it unless you ante up, put your coconuts on the dinner table and have a go! Mozz, I wont go through life wondering: 'what if'. I've made plenty of mistakes in the 27 years I've been on this planet and this one will slide right off the bat after a day or two. Hey, I'm taking solace from the fact that I'll be able to play games 3 years old because I'll have the machine to do it!
Dont feel bad, Mozz.

I really did that to those cpu's and learned the lesson that they are ever so fragile and that AMD cleaned up their act on the 64's I under stand that the heatsink is way easier to attach now...I will wait and see...me and RC are gonna build me one soon using Roger Wilco and my old faithful PC the 2700 AMD mobile OC'd out the ying yang...

Next week, mate. Get this, I bought Unreal Tournament 2003 three years ago, or whenever it was released, and I've waited all that time to have a go at it because my Riva TNT 2 was absolutely shitehouse at running it!
Cant wait. I know its a bit juvenille for a 27 year old guy to enjoy games so much but for me its a hobby and entertainment when I'm not working.

This goes back to "Practice what you preach" im a firm beleiver that I should take responsiblity for the advice that I give. I have chewed some people out in the past for telling someone that probably wasnt ready, how to fix something. Bill said from the start that this wasnt his cup of tea.

to you and Neddy for those choice words! Nah, when I was joining THGC you had to have a name of course and at the time I was following a racehorse with the same name so I threw it down.
