Whenever I said that I would not buy a p4 I lied. The prices are already darn reasonable. I just ordered a complete system with a p4 1.3, 128 pc800 (not 600)rdram, dvd, cheap sound, video and hd, me, office, 1year onsite, 3 year parts, and no monitor for just a hair over $1200.00 including shipping and tax. My friend’s p4 1.4 cooked a dvd about 4 times faster than my 750/83 oc cel. The time savings alone will make this baby pay for itself in no time.

uh... do you do anything but rip dvds and play quake3? cause if so, i dont think youll enjoy breakneck speeds with a (chuckle) 1.3gig p4 in other computing areas

Where did you buy it at that price? Walmart? Did you get a vidcard? I've been pricing systems for about a month now (almost daily ;) and can find nothing even close. It's usually double that.

I'm find this to be more troll-like than fact-like.

You guys have to remember that he stated that he got cheap sound, video and HDD. That could make up the difference for price. Plus the PIV 1.3GHZ performs on par or worse than a PIII 1GHZ and is priced about the same.

Why not get an Athlon 1GHZ with kick ass sound, video and HDD for probably less than that price or an even better system for the same price.

Whatever though to each his own.

Yup. P4 1300 is really "cheap". only 600$ for CPU.
for 1200$ You can buy P4 1.5 CPU (Just a chip itself).

All i can offer you is the truth. Nothing more.

tfbww and the interested

I know I'm a sellout, not just for buyung Intel but also for buying a prebuilt. The purchase was made in part to piss off my friend who shelled out 2k for a similar system not long ago. He is anti AMD so buyng an AMD rocketship would not count in his eyes but a Intel does (lame I know).

The company is none other then Dell. If you call they will give you a slightly better price then on online.

The specs are
Intel p4 1.3
128meg pc800
Intel 750 chip mobo of unknown make
TNT 2 video
sb 64 sound
cheep Harmon Kardon speakers
12x DVD
20G 5k rpm hd (I already have a 7200 and a 10,000)
330watt ps
who cares key and mouse, LE case
me (yuck)
office of some sort
no monitor, no modem
price includes shipping and tax $1209.78

Dell is pushing the DG850 mobo made by intel.

No overclocking on that mobo, but it is rock solid and is capable of 3.2GB per sec on the BUS

Thats one bad ****ing deal man. All you're getting is a crappy p4, video card and RAM for 1200. I could make a complete Athlon 1GHz system that would whip it's ass for half the price. *Poor you*

Griz

Bring it on! Half price is $604.89. I will buy from you today if you can supply what you claim! I have nothing against AMD and would be happy to own an AMD system.

lied again price was $1,216.49.
Griz your budget is improved somewhat to $608.25.
Griz I would be interested even if you can only get close to your claim.

I stand thusly corrected. My apology. I still don't think its worth the money, though. I mean, a TNT2 card? Why, man, why?! :) I guess it all depends on what you'll use it for (or you already have another card, god willing).

Here is the deal. Will run 30G 7200 rpm as primary, 20G 5k as backup. Assuming non-mobo video, TNT2 will replace TNT1 in old system (downstairs). New system (upstairs) is for TV/DVD so it is getting AIW card. The old TNT1 card will be used at the computer shop I work at to replace someone’s even worse card (at no charge).

Yes it is a waste of money but you can’t take it with you. Also it has already served its primary purpose… to piss off my boss!
