I doubt I'll get an Acer but my choices are down to either of these processors. The main purpose is for on-site IT diagnostics however of course it will be used for recreational as well. Gaming maybe if out of town, but hardly a factor.

The K125 is in a 11.6" Netbook with a M880G chipset and the I3-380UM is in a 13.3" laptop with a HM55 chipset. I personally like the smaller just for mobility but I'd prefer to have the better system.

Also, wouldn't it be recommended to have XP Pro on a 11.6" Netbook? A big reason I hesitate on the Netbook is because it comes with W7HP and the laptop comes barebones. Thoughts?

I'd definitely shoot for the i3 based system, even though it is a UM. It'll perform just as well as if not better than the AMD based system (check the CPU benchmarks in my sig for more) and will be far better in terms of battery life.

Well good point. I figured the i3 would perform better than the Athlon II Neo, but the L3 kind of had me confused. a 512k L2 + 3M L3 vs. a 1MB L2...didn't know for sure if that really makes a difference or not.

Just a quick note to remind that the Core i3 series of processors does NOT have Turbo Boost capability. See . Check under the Advanced Technologies heading and the link at the magnifying glass icon.
