Buy the ASUS G53 or wait for something better?

Hello Tom's Hardware,

You may have noticed me posting again and again for advice on purchasing a laptop and if you have, I apologise for boring you.
Today's question is:
"Do I buy this:
ASUS G53JW G53JW-HD-SX109V ($1800-1850)
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Intel Core i7 740QM Quad Core 1.73GHz Processor
Mobile Intel HM55 Express Chipset
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M, with 1.5GB GDDR5 VRAM
6GB DDR3 1066MHz Memory
500GB 7200rpm Drive (Upgradeable to up 512GB SSD)
DVD Super multi
15.6" WXGA+ Colourshine (1366x768)
* HDMI * 2 Mega Pixel Camera * 802.11n * Bluetooth * ESATA * Keyboard with Numberpad * Free Carry Case * Free Optical Mouse *
Or wait for something more powerful at a better price?

People, tell me. Where does one draw the line between waiting for technology to advance and actually going and buying something?

More about asus wait better
  1. I would say, if you want drop in price then wait 2,3 months as sandy bridge will arrive in markets in Jan,Feb. Otherwise you cant go wrong with Asus G53, it is a great gaming laptop also for the price.
  2. I live in Australia and 2-3 months in the US translates to almost a year over here. I am still umming-and-aahing about it; I was on the verge of buying one when I got cold feet...
  3. Hmm, then it seems you should go with it asap
  4. It totally depends on you.If you need a laptop right now, then go for it.
If you want to wait, you can't buy anything because there is always something new around the corner.
