Hello,
I have tried to log into my Dell Inspiron laptop this morning and get the message as detailed above. It gives me 2 options launch startup repair or run windows normally neither do anything. I've tried running in safe mode and it takes me back to the same screen. I have the original OS disks from Dell etc if I need to reinstall, but just don't know how since I can't get past the same screen. Any advice appreciated

Boot from your installation disk and do a repair, it may not require a full repair installation, depends on the problem. It should boot from the install disk unless it is a significant hardware problem. If you have to do a full repair installation here is a guide: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-instal...

I've put the Operating System disk it, it revs up in the cd drive, but then doesn't do anything and the same old page appears..... I'll have a look at the link you have sent and see if that gets me any further.

Thanks for the advice

You may not have a real installer disk -- you can download a legit copy from digital river, just make sure to get the same as what you have now, including x86 (32 bit) or x64 in the SP1 image and burn it to a DVD. If you do either a repair or full re-install you can just use your key off the sticker on your laptop.
