Why would you buy a non-working laptop? HP's are notorious for heat damage, so if it is a well used laptop, chances are the heat fried something vital on the motherboard. Your best bet would be to find a new motherboard- if you can find one.

buwish, i paid 100 bucks for it, just rying to figure out what i need to replace without replacing all 3 mobo cpu or gpu. going to take it apoart this weekend and see if there is any bubbling on the cpu and gpu. The laptop has an ati radieon 4650 in it. Just wondering if it overheated it maybe the cpu or gpu came unseated like in the dv9 nvidia problem i have been reading about. This laptop is only about 8 months old came with windows 7. any more info u need buwish let me know.
