Ok.

I downloaded Webmin. How do I go about opening a RANGE of ports? Do I really have to go through and specify each individual port, if I want ports 1024-3000 open?

What's the best way of getting this done under Mandrake 9.0?

if you are serious about usin linux, then you need to learn things the right way. visit www.tldp.org

basically, you need to learn how to compile a kernel with iptables, and you need to learn iptables from the command line. I will admit that learning all of this will be rough at first. it is with everyone. however, you will learn a lot, and understand your system, and networks, a whole lot more. even the graphical programs that you use are just front ends for the shell commands. learn the shell (xterm, console, command line interface, etc...), and you will be better off. you can always google for "iptables how to"
