If you have a working port of Sangband for either X11 or the Mac, please
let me know. I possess neither OS, so cannot test them myself, but will
happily make them available on the website (saves your bandwidth).

Oi! That is definitely a major bug.
Now fixed (used the same variable to time out both inner and outer
loops, causing the outer loop never to end). New version uploaded to
sangband.runegold.org.
What I don't understand is how this bug avoided being detected for so
long; it's been in the code since at least beta 13. Well, it's nailed
to the wall now, thanks to you.
-----------
Also fixed a few of the other problems reported, such as the Windows
version refusing to change preferences, and forged ego-items losing
their knowledge of what component was used to make them. More will be
fixed later.
Thanks to all who have been sending me bug reports. If you feel that
I've missed any, do email me (see the "readme.txt" file in any of the
Sangband releases).

I made a MacOSX/Carbon build a few days back. You can download it from my
site, at:
<http://www.dot-app.org/Sangband-beta18-osx.dmg>
That's a Mac disk image. I assume that, since you don't have a Mac, you
won't be able to look inside. So, I've also uploaded a tarball with the
added files (based on Pelpel's macho-extras package), and a slightly tweaked
copy of main-crb.c and Makefile.osx from Vanilla. A full description of the
changes are in the file "Mac-Changes.txt":
