If you polymorph a quest monster and kill it will it still count? If you
destroy one by destruction I assume that doesn't count but will another be
generated? I have a quest for undead beholders with a pure mage and have no
attack for a non-living elemental resistance monster outside of dispel from
a staff, which won't take out 14 of them before it blows up, plus it is slow
and needs LOS.

Playing Sangband 15d still, I found the majority of the quest
rewards I've gotten have been bolts, arrows, or shots. All of
which get sold immediately, because I quit actually using bows
long ago. Generally for a couple of k in gold, because they
aren't even the best bolts, arrows, or shots.
And to add insult to injury, after the first few quests, the
rewards ended up being worse than the drops from the creatures
I was being asked to kill. And the difference only got worse
the deeper I went. A bundle of arrows worth 4-5k tops hardly
compares to the combined drops of 20 Storm Wurms. (I believe
I ended up with 5 potions of Intelligence alone, not counting
various weapons in the 9k range, tons of ammo and armor that I
just destroyed after a passing glance, some pieces of Runegold,
etc.) I'm not even taking the quests for the rewards at this
point, I'm taking them for the detail that they are generally
creatures with good drops of their own.

Wizards definitely do not get genocide. I'm not sure about the others
without looking at the source. That's really the only place you can
find a spell list too. If you do download the code, the spell tables
are not too hard to find if you just search for the name of one of the
spells.
