How to remove/take off a ribbon cable?

I've got a Canon PowerShot s70 camera and the lense has decided to turn on me. Although it won't actually turn because it will not go back in to allow me to turn the camera on/off.

So to cut a long story short i took it apat an now i am at the stage of needing to remove the ribbon cables to be able to take the mini motherboard off, to then be able to take a deeper look at the problem.

Don't worry its not under warraty i just want t save myself some money and keep it working for as long as possible.

It depends on the ribbon cable connector. Some just pull straight out, others you lift or press a lock first.

Thanks for the reply. I had a further look and there were no locks on the ribbon cable, but there was a black stip of plastic above the cable which kept it in place, this just needed lifting up, baring in mind itwas iny so it was quite hard to see! I suppose you could say it was a lock, just not one that i'd ever seen before.
