I agree with the "Well Duh" statement but........

Traveling with family is like pulling teeth. I went to Bonnaroo with my sisters and probably would have paid any amount to escape the 30 hour car ride.

how dumb.

instead of spending a little bit extra money on the stuff you already bought to help with the quality (or extended warranties)
people would rather use that money to go on vacation where the entire time could be a disaster?

not very bright.
all sorts of things could go wrong.
if you are driving.. maybe engine troubles prevent you from getting there, and the cost to repair the engine might be a surpise high enough to end the whole trip.
and then you are stuck far away from home with only two choices:
1. an extremely huge tow bill to have the car sent back to the house.
2. an extremely huge bill to live in a hotel while you find some local mechanic to fix the problem.

some people with enough money might truly love living in the hotel and hunting down a mechanic.
but
it boils down to the fact that all towns are the same.. they simply look different and the people might be a little different.
if that can keep you entertained while the car gets fixed.. good for you.
but
how much money did you just lose while getting the engine fixed?
and
how much time did you waste?
is the condo no longer available?
did the tickets you purchased expire?


what about if you get there safely and everybody treats you rudely.
and/or what about if the weather is terrible and it rains the whole time?
what about if you get to the vacation spot and people are moving slow and wasting all of your vacation time?
like..
if you go to an amusement park to ride rollercoasters..
when each line is taking an extra 30 minutes to move.. your day will have lost 2 hours after four rides.
that could be the determining factor if you ride 1 or 2 or 5 extra rides before the park closes.


vacations are all about:
- weather
- time
- the treatment while you were there

if any one of those goes wrong.. the whole vacation is a total waste of time and money.

some people go 'sight seeing' and they dont care how rudely they get treated as long as people hurry up and the weather is nice.
but
some people go on vacation to clear their head and get away from the stress.
