Just noticed this in my current Quickband dump on the ladder:
Shouldn't Arunruth have a cold brand? As it stands, it's pretty much
worthless; a cold brand would make it at least somewhat useful.
q) The Broad Sword 'Arunruth' (3d5) (+20,+12) (+4) {Saruman}
It increases your dexterity by 4. It slays orcs, and it is
especially deadly against demons. It provides resistance to
cold. It slows your metabolism and makes you fall like a
feather. It grants you immunity to paralysis. It activates
for frost bolt (12d8) every 50 turns. It cannot be harmed by
the elements. It gives you 4 attacks per turn.
Compared to the next thing in the pack, there's just no comparison,
despite both artifacts being dl20.
r) The Beaked Axe of Hurin (3d6) (+12,+15) (+2) {Saruman}
It increases your strength and constitution by 2. It slays
trolls and dragons, and it is especially deadly against
demons. It is branded with acid. It provides resistance to
acid, fire, and dark. It lights the dungeon around you. It
activates for berserk rage (50+d50 turns) every 80+d80 turns.
<It gives you 4 attacks per turn.

Well, Hurin is particularly good in Quick (the dark resistance is very
handy).
Yes, Arunruth probably should have cold brand. Still, it's no slouch
already - good +s, free action, orc slaying (many of the Quick uniques
are orcs), and +4 Dex which will give most characters a speed bonus and
perhaps an extra attack.

Speaking of V:
Ringil is a dl 20 weapon. Do we now have to improve all other
weapons native to this depth to be as powerful as Ringil?
Hurin is very powerful. It was one of the two endgame weapons
of my V 3.0.5 warrior winner. Don't improve many other weapons
to match it. If anything, better weaken Hurin.

Yes, it's better in Quickband than in other variants. But it still is
basically a weakened Westernesse, even with the high pval. I don't
expect all artifacts to be as good as Hurin or Ringil. But they
certainly ought to compete with ego weapons.
Anyway, the description for Arunruth is:
D:The beautiful sword of Thingol, justly named "King's Ire". It
D: glistens icy enough to freeze the hearts of demons, and you feel
D: supple and lightfooted as you clasp its hilt of gold and silver
inlay.
A description like "icy enough to freeze the hearts of demons" usually
means the weapon is branded. That's what makes me believe that the
brand is simply missing.

I hope I am not being too pedantic here, but "icy" should really be
"icily": since it qualifies the word "glistens," which is a verb, an
adverb should be used instead of an adjective. Adjectives are in
general only used in combination with nouns (and copulae, but let's
not go there...); if we want to qualify a verb, we use an adverb.

Should be Aranruth IIRC. Weapon in game has wrong name.
