How can I get my HP Photosmart C310 to print using blank ink only?

I want to set my printer (HP C410 Photosmart) to print only in black ink as the default. How can I do this on the printer itself so that I don't have to do it with each document?

this is a common question, and as far as I know the answer is you can't set it to use only black ink as the default; you must select black ink-only each time you print.
