[Vanilla] CCW: Prayer vs. Potion

I was wondering. Why do we have such different effects for the CCW
prayer and potion? The potion heals a little less damage, but deals
with such things as poison, blindness, etc. All the prayer does is cure
cuts.

I could understand if the potions were more powerful than a low-level
priest's CCW, but I would expect that high-level priests would get more
out of it.

Was there a reason for this, or is it just something else that "is?"

You can't read books when you are blind... And there's a special other
spell for poison. Poison secondary effect really doesn't play much
role in combat, since it is only 1HP damage per turn. So it's not a
big deal to let it go on until you get a chance to cure it.

Am I right in thinking that medium to high level priests would rarely
use CSW, CCW and CMW spells in combat, preferring to use potions or the
very top healing spell?

Medium level might use CxW if meleeing some weaker monser to preserve
mana, but it would still be rare. High level would never bother with
the spell, the stuff you fight at that level will likely do more damage
per round than those spells heal.

Heal and Healing are very useful though.
