Asus Question

I'm looking at two laptops for Christmas. The ASUS U43JC-X1 and the ASUS N43JF-A1. I don't know which is better, or should i just wait for Sandy Bridge in one of the two?

I am a student/gamer if that helps.

Thanks

  1. Out of those 2, I would recommend the N43 as it has the better Graphics Card. That said, for that specification range you could find similar laptops by Lenovo, Acer or Dell for similar prices. Look around.

If you are in the US, try Newegg.com or Xotic PC. They offer great prices and are Retailers unlike Amazon who are the half-way-man or resellers.

The only thing I am worried about is the short battery life.

  4. If it offers intel switchable graphics, you can actually disable the graphics card and use onbord graphics to save power. Also, you can buy a second battery or larger battery of e-bay. I plan to do that for my laptop when I finally buy it :)

Gaming and laptop does not really go well. For me if you are gaming on the laptop means you need an A/C. No batteries for me. But from my experience, my Asus lappy are quite long lasting. It can last 2-3 hours with media playing + web surfing + Sketch Up. It can reach 3 hours + if I tune the power management setting.

Then again, if battery is your concern buy another set of batteries or a bigger capacity.
