Does anyone have any information on the mystery Pentium III 900Mhz FCPGA? The one I have in my hot little hands is marked 900/256/100/1.7V Philipines. Also the S# is SL4SD... Intel denies all allegations that this chip came from them and points it's evil finger to the Nevada desert. Please help!
Intel has been releasing faster versions at 100MHz. You can even get a 1GHz at 100MHz now. But who would want to? The fastest I've seen a PIII do is 1.2GHz overclocked. I seriously doubt that anything less the the 1GHz chips will overclock that high. And you would get the best 1.2GHz performance with the 1GHz 133 at 160.
I know... I don't have any use for a 1+Gig computer though. I'm just really curious as to why Intel doesn't list it. I'm thrilled with the speed but why the mystery? That and I only paid $200 for it, why not?
I just think that the 866 would outperform it by at least 10% do to the higher bus speed. And for overclocking it to get the higher bus speed-you can do that with the 866 as well. But that was a good price I think.
