Hi Experts,
My old comp. is Intel PII 233MHz. I'm thinking to upgrade it to AMD CPU/Motherboard based system. My question is that if I do so whether I have to change the current Power supply. Is there any difference of P/S between Intel and AMD systems? Please help me to clarify this point.
Regards,
Chau_ya.

Yes, the power supply that is on your old system is probably not up to the task of running the newer CPU, I would recommend a new 300W from the approved list at AMD's web site.

Thanks dsutcliffe,
Mine is a 250w case. Is it powerfull enough for a T-Bird 800MHz system? But actually, my quest regard to the compatibility of the P/S system with the two CPU's.
Thanks again.

For two CPUs, you might want to look into a 350w or 400w power supply. When fully loaded, a 250w power supply might not be enough. Also make sure your power supply is AMD certified.

Well, there are some 250W PS listed on amd's web site, check out the list to see if your power supply is there.

A good 300W power supply should only run you about $50-$60 US and if something is not quite right with your system, you will not question the power supply.
