I have a brand new system and am having a problem with XP Home SP1. I have noticed explorer.exe seems to crash quite a bit. Has anyone else noticed this? If so, any known remedies? I have virtually no programs installed other than the O/S and drivers for my hardware (Radeon 9700 Pro, Hercules Fortissimo III, Samsung 191T, 2x256 MB Corsair XMS PC3200 C2, 2xWD800JB, and GA-8PE667). No, I have not overclocked at all yet.

have you tried formating and or reinstalling your operating system, it is quite possible that there was some file corruption during the initial installation, most systems when built use a duping systema nd record several hdd's at one time, this can cause errors sometimes, try reinstalling xp, or doing a repair installation w/the disk that came w/your computer. This will probably solve any problems that you are encountering.

maybe you have a bad stick of RAM. Try them one at a time and see if it still does it.

Try running a check disk for your hard drive (right-click your hard drive, go to properties). Also, for checking your memory, get MemTest86. Run them one stick at a time.

What errors are they?
