[Crawl] Skill n (10)?

I've just had my Evocations skill increased without all that many
Exp to burn. When looking at it something seemed odd, looking at it
again, closer, I found what is odd:

h + Invocations Skill 16 (7)
i + Evocations Skill 6 (10)

Not being properly aligned made it look odd... The '10' is weird.

I don't think I've seen this before. What does that mean? (Hopefully
not that I'd better get medical help for my memory. <g>)

It's one further from the next level than 9. It's just not seen very
often because the numbers have to be aligned just right for it to
happen.
