Night Below Spoilers






So the party reconnoitering the Night Below, (Bard 8, Thief/ill 8/8,
Druid 12, Ogre Magi Kensai 9, Raksasha Illusionist 8, Medusa Earth Mage
8) have methodically (18 hr session!) trounced a horde of troglodytes,
visited a drow outpost, cleared the main passage of grell, and moved on
to the quaggoth chamber (the illusionist disguised them as drow, then
the bard charmed the thonot), then cleared out the hooked horrors and
captured the rhuk.
After returning above ground to find the Raveners have abducted ALL of
their higher level NPC support, then returned to find that the Slaver
NPCs captured the quaggoth Thonot and Shirkhan (the raksasha lording
over the hooked horrors) they chased the NPC slavers into the caves of
the Slime Lord, only to have they asses handed to dem. 1st Ed. Stinking
Cloud is just nasty, when backed up by a web (should have used that
Minor Globe, bee-otches).
They have backtracked, and are licking their wounds. They have scryed
and communed enough to id that the dragon is most likely a shadow
dragon, and that there is enough evidence it will whoop their arses
(too bad their sage is on his way to Great Shaboath!).
Since they haven't yet found a way to control the iron golems in the
interdicted chamber (and questing to get a feeblemind removed), they
are talking about either asking Inzeldren to join them, or spanking her
ass and subduing her (yeah right!), and using her to help defeat the
Shadow Dragon.

So my question - say you're an Old Green Dragon, sort of content with
your goat per week. What would it take to get you out of your mire,
reduced or polymorphed, to travel down into the bowels of the earth and
battle a shadow dragon? These guys have already helped her out twice
bigtime, and are most are just as lawful as she is, so she at least
knows that whatever they offer wont be complete BS. What MIGHT I be hit
with (in terms of offers) and how can i respond? I dont think or expect
it will be greedy stuff, like gold. I think it might be a pride thing.
They are constantly legend loring and I've dropped hints that she knew
of an older, scaly presence in the underdark. Maybe Fandruzsch whooped
her arse years ago. Rocky II, anyone?

I'm also frightened they might use the old school Shadow Dragon Bashing
Technique of sending the charmed BloodSkull orcs or quaggoths at
Fandruzsch. 1 HD creatures are a shadow dragons nightmare, even for a
-7 AC. So question #2, any techniques for running shadow dragons?
