CON: is a special filename in Dos. Since Crawl's savefiles are named
after the character, 'Con' is disallowed as a name as there's a chance
that the game will write the savefiles to the screen (CON=console)
rather than to the disk. I imagine you can't name a character LPR either
(unless you want your savefiles printed rather than saved ;) ).

Only if you are running a Dos games that writes saved games based solely on
the character name.

It is the simplest of taskst to make the filename not based on the
character's name, such as using a predefined naming convention for saved
gams (e.g. save0000.svg, save0001.svg, etc.)
