Using Retail Home Premium Key for Family Pack Disc

i am currently using Windows 7 Family pack. i had activated 3 PCs with it. My friend, who has a Windows Retail Home Premium Edition, never activated due to baby badly scratched the disc. He decided sell his product key to me and kept to his old Windows Vista due to financial problems. i had recently built another PC and needed another OS for it.

my question is can my Windows 7 Retail Family Pack Home Premium Edition(3 PCs) disc be installed on my new PC using his Windows 7 Retail Home Premium product key to activate it?

Usually the Product Key must match the disk.

The family pack disks are retail copies, so the license your friend sold you should work with your existing install media just fine.
