Hello JoeSwiz;
Any special requirements or considerations? If so you can answer the basic questions of choosing a laptop found in the sticky topic at the top of this section.

The HP G42t would be a good option for a general purpose laptop.

$450 starting out. I'd suggest a CPU upgrade to the newer Core i3-370M and a HDD upgrade to the faster 7200K model of the 320GB HDD. That would end up @ ~$530.

Hi Joe,

You should look into the Acer Aspire AS7740-5691. It has a 2.13 GHz Intel® Core™ i3-330M processor, 4 GB RAM, and 320GB of hard drive space. It also has a large 17.3" screen.

What do you think?
