I removed the tape from the heatsink covering the compound and some of the compound remained stuck to the tape. Is this ok or will I fry my cpu? It looks like two little strips - probably about 10-20% of the compound is on the tape. I went ahead and installed the heatsink anyway...

The CPU is AMD 1.13GHz 266 FSB and MB is ABIT KT7A.

Any suggestions/advice?

Thanks!

Not a problem as long as the compound is ditributed evenly across the CPU die once it flattens out from the pressure of the clip.

Suicide is painless...........

I guess I have to assume that it spread out evenly. it left two small strips missing. i just don't want to kill my new cpu. thanks.
