[Crawl] Item creation oddity?

For some reason I couldn't step onto the bit of food lying around,
so I looked at it:

Move the cursor around to observe a square.
Press '?' for a monster description.
You see a meat ration here.
A closed door.

Which direction?
You open the door.

You see here a meat ration.

## Which I then grabbed.
