[crawl] YACD: am i ready to go to zot?

this is the first character that i've got this far - am i ready to go to zot?

i've done most of dungeon; i've not done the hall of blades, the pits
(never found teleport control), and the tomb almost killed me on the
first level. i haven't ventured into hell or pandemonium either; i just
want a victory!

i'm very light on randarts, for some reason.

does anyone have any general tips for handling Zot and getting out again?

I'd say: be careful and don't be afraid to run away, detect monsters would
be useful there if spellcasters would not detect that.

Xom gave one of my characters about three levels for free, like him very
much.

Deforming is not so bad, it only gives you AC penalty equal to base
bodyarmour divided by 2, rounded down, so for Ice dragon armour it's -4AC
AFAIR. Not much difference comparing to your 29. From Armour skill one can
get up to 27/15= 1.8 = 180% BaseArmourAC bonus. In your case you get 13/15
= 0.86=86% bonus.

Rather normal AFAIR, but be careful if you're going to cast a lot of high
level spells.

Jewellery is not likely to give randarts, as they are rather pointed on
giving you an item you haven't yet seen AFAIR. I don't take jewellery
usually.

Healing will not help you much in a heavy fight.

Cold magic is better for lava snakes AFAIR, as they are susceptible to cold
(+50% damage).

No ideas, but you can rid of some spells for sure, for example identify
;-)

This is equal to 60 Magic resistance points, while you get 81 from your
level\race and 22 from enchantment skill.

I guess the damage for abilities raises with your invocations skill, but
not sure about it.

Based on a quick scan of the code, the quantity is based on character
level. The type is random, based on the ability that is being used.
(Summon imps summons type 5's, Summon demons summons types < 5, unless
you get really unlucky and you get a Shadow Imp.)
