Windows cannot be installed to Disk 0 partition 1

Dear Sir/Madam,
i was try to install wind 7 to dell machine model DCNE, get the following message " windo can not be installed to this disk. this computer`s hardware may not support booting to this disk. ensure that the disk`s controller is enabled in the computer`s BIOS menu"

please advice accordingly. thanx.

Remove the partition and install to the empty space. I think you partitioned the entire disk leaving no room for Windows to create the boot partition

Disk 0 Partition 1 could be the Dell restore partition which you shouldn't remove unless you have made backup DVD's.

das_stig may be right. What is the size of that partition? you should be able to see it when you are running windows setup.
