Acer laptop starting problem

Hello,
my acer laptop aspire one won't start after I log in this is what happens I press power it go's to the login screen then i put my password in then it says welcome and goes to a black screen with nothing but the mouse . help.. i am useing my sisters computer and i need help with mine.

You can get into safe mode by pressing F8 while booting, not after that. A menu should appear, including the option to boot normally (which you can not do, since it hangs at the login screen) and boot in safe mode. If it starts booting in safe mode, a list on dll's will load, then it should take you to the home screen.
