Samsung R510 sound problem

when recording from VHS capture device via any of the 3 usb ports no sound is recorded however sound is ok when downloaded music or from DVD.
Any advice would be appreciated. This laptop is using Windows 7

You may have to connect an audio lead from the capture device to the laptop's "line in" jack (next to the headphone jack usually). Check the capture device instructions.
