Zen Touch & VBR

HELP! I was told by a sales person at Creative that the Zen Touch supported VBR. I've recorded just about ALL my music in VBR mode. I've experienced some chatter in playback on the Zen, usually not present in the MP3 on the PC, this = VBR issues on the Zen... Creative now says "we never said it supported VBR, blah, blah, blah". 1) Can I play VBR on a Zen Touch, and are there any ripping settings/tricks that would make it work better, and 2) is there likely to be a software solution from Creative or third party?
I use MusicMatch to rip CDs, with VBR 90% custom quality, MP3 encode level normal, digital recording with no error correction, DAE Max, Multipass Off, Block 20, OVerlap 3, Max Mismatch 0, on an HP Pentium IV 2.8GHz, 512 RAM, 48x CD RW.
