Sounds like a smart system for people who need/want one but don't want to pay a lot of money.

I think I'd rather pay a lot of money though for a server.

And I'll still stick with my Intel system for home use.

But that's me. I'm sure there are people out there who would prefer to do things differently to how I do them. Such is the nature of individuality. :)

So what?
Anyone can by rather cheap Alpha 21164, say, 533 MHz two years by now.
I think not many people bought it.

Yet another PR action from the Sun. So much buzz for no-news.

I don't know what
Sun PGX64 On-Board Graphics Accelerator
is all about but I saw somewhere that this video board lacks 3D at all, and as you can check

Sun Expert3D-Lite Graphics Accelerator
is just $995. :) while
Sun PGX32 Graphics Accelerator with Video Adapter
is $295.

It might end up as car manufacturers' approach -
to introduce a dirt-cheap model pretty much
noone will buy - say, Honda Accord DX lacks even air
conditioner and as a such is useless.

But it gives car maker an ability to put this fancy 'starts from..' crap and car dealerships will surprise you with +5K configurations on the lot.

and yes, this $995 price DOESN'T include monitor. :)
try to configure it and you will see how high it will go.
