Help! Not cpu related tho....

I just got a great deal on a hewlett packard 8x4x32. Just got into my system, booted up. My computer doesn't detect my normal cdrom...???? not cool. i have the burner set to slave, and followed the directions perfectly. anyone havve any input or know any solutions or anything!? thanks a ton!

Here is a starting point:

Set the CDRW as the master, and the CDROM as the slave. This would be the first thing to try.

Although the instructions may say make the CDRW the slave, it will work better as the master.

If you still have problems detecting the drive, then check the DMA settings for the CDROM. If checked, turn the DMA off.

you proablly have both set as masters like siad above at least it is really easy to tell what the cd brunner is becuase there should be a jupmer setting right on the back of it
