I'm having a problem with a Windows 98 machine, upon loading windows I instantly get an invalid page fault caused by MPREXE in the module mprexe.exe. I've tried booting from a floppy, and going into Safe mode, but the same problem occurs. Task manager also shows that msgsvr32 is not responding, any ideas?

Try pulling out and reinstalling your RAM modules, sometimes corrosion can get on the terminals and removing and replacing the modules can sometimes get your solid contact back, if that doesn't work replace the RAM, Page Fault Errors are RAM related.

Sometimes, but not always. I've had page fault errors when there was absolutely nothing wrong with the RAM. Could be a driver or other piece of software causing the problem as well.

If you design software that is fool-proof, only a fool will want to use it.

Thats true but if he can't solve his problem in safe mode when minimal drivers are loaded, its unlikely a driver problem, he should run a RAM test first to at least remove the Ram as a possibile problem. And he can get a RAM test application from http://www.bootdisk.com

my favorite memory tester is memtest86. Look for it here:

If it ain't broke, don't fix it...tweak it.

What're the exact errors? Perhaps I can look them up or something...
