I got a Fantom 2TB Greendrive usb 2.0 w/ e-sata port.

Just recently got a case with a e-sata port and a e-sata cable. I plugged the drive in with only e-sata cable and it doesn't detect or anything. The computer only detects it when the USB plug is plugged in.

And I did plug the e-sata port's cable into a 3gb/s sata port.

Any suggestions on what's wrong?

the computer detects it when both the e-sata and usb cords are plugged in? it sounds like the drive is using usb to power the unit and e-sata for data transfer. i've heard of some drives taking two usb cords and some with power transformers for plugging into the wall. i have one of the latter.

read the manual. at this point i dont think anything is wrong.

No it's a 3.5 inch drive with its own power adapter. the usb/e-sata is purely for transfering data.

Well. googled it and it seems like the drive has frequent issues of the e-sata port dying. that's probably what happened since I don't see a increase in transfer speed when the e-sata port is plugged in as opposed to only the usb being plugged in.
