What newer chipset on a 939 socket will work

i have a gigabit nvidia motherboard with the 939 socket what is the latest chipset can it handle

  1. 939 is very old - you need to consider total hardware upgrade.

  2. I agree with moose. Those CPU's will be very, very hard to find, and if you do find one, it will be more expensive than a modern CPU. Time for a new build.
  3. FYI, the FX-60, which was a Athlon X2 at 2.6 ghz was the fastest socket 939 desktop processor.

    There was also a opteron 185 that ran at 2.6 ghz. Back then, AMD had opterons that ran on the desktop socket. Pretty sure there was an opteron 190 also, but its very hard to find.
