Is slot 1 the same as socket 370? I have a motherboard which is a socket 370 and it states in the manual that it can use a pentium III but all the pentium III's I've looked at say they are slot 1.

Slot I is NOT the same as Socket 370. It is cheaper for Intel to produce socket (FCPGA) CPUs, so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to find any around? You would also want to check the highest speed processor that your mobo supports.
