Programming student needs new laptop

Hey Guys ,
I am a prograaming ardent and seeking a new laptop for college. My budget is $500. I'm going on run laptop atleast 8 hours a day so needs something that can handle the heat without any over heating issues. Battery life 4 to 5 hours. I would great if it's dual core .

Hey, thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned this earlier but I am not a big fan of HP . I had them in past and got some serious over heating issues. Any other choices?
