Hi,

I have a question...
I have to choose between 2 PII 450 processors (with 1Mb cache) and 2 PII 550 processors (with 512Kb cache)

I will have to install them in a server which will host some SQL server databases (large & complex queries !)

Suppose I choose for those 2 PII 450 processors (because of the extra cache), will I be able to profit from the extra 512Kb cache ? I was wondering if the cache is fully used... how will both processors know what calculation it is working on, and how the cache is used....
Or am I just being silly, and will it work without any problems...

Since your serving a database, more cache will be better choice. even tho its a slower Mhz.

The cache is much slower on the p2. also, it's not on die, which may cause problems. If you overclock, the p3 is not only easier, the on-die cache gives you one less thing to worry about

Thanks...

Will my server (Windows 2000) be able to fully use the 1Meg cache on both processors ?

Thanks
