seems like the speed of processors is rocketing skywards,
yet bus speeds lad sadly behind.
im running on an old p2 300 lx with a multiplier of 4.5
now we have the new batch of athalons out where multiplier
is up to 13 or 10... depending on the bus. And the p4?
quad pumped 100mhz... its still 100mhz at the base
when will the bus speeds jump to the next level such as
150 or 166mhz? and how do they hope to catch processor
speeds up with bus and ram speeds?
A processor that has to wait 13 cycles for the bus to
supply data cant be efficient.

p.s. i have read all the data on the p4 and such. no flames.

The new C Athlons are 133Mhz FSB, DDR=266Mhz. Even B Athlons with the proper setup can run a 133Mhz FSB.

Beyond 133Mhz, I have no idea.

Don't know how much hot air it is but the architecture of the new Intel Itanium (cr@p name) suggests a 266Mhz FSB although whether this is actually a double clocked 133 I don't know. CPU speeds seemed low <1Ghz so maybe some major bus changes?

The new C Athlons w/supporting chipset (KT133A as an example) use a 133Mhz FSB as default, not overclocked.

non C Athlons would have to be overclocked to hit 133Mhz, stock for them is 100Mhz.
