1_What is your budget?
$4000

2_What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
17+ preferably (will be connected to an external monitor most of the time so not too important)

3_What screen resolution do you want?
1080p+ preferably (will be connected to an external monitor most of the time so not too important)

4_Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Desktop Replacement

5_How much battery life do you need?
Not expecting much ;)

6_Do you want to play games with your laptop?
It certainly would be nice :)

7_What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop?
3D Rendering (Maya, Rhino, Cinema4d, Solidworks), Video Editing (Premiere, After Effects)

8_How much storage (H.D.D Capacity) do you need?
Not too important

9_If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post the links to them.
Preferably a place with no tax in CA :)

10_How long do you want to keep your laptop?
If I'm dropping $4k? Probably at least 3 years

11_What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
Don't really need it

12_Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
Whatever is the most powerful, that's all that matters to me. From browsing lightly sounds like Sager/Clevo is the way to go? I also thought of a Dell Precision? Maybe you guys could enlighten me to exact models?

I currently have an Asus G73JW, and honestly I'm a little disappointed in it. Rendering takes almost as long as it takes my Mac..which is sad.

13_What country do you live in?
Ameeeeeeerica

14_Please tell us any additional information if needed.
I want a workhog.

Hello corimpgtr;
What CPU/GPU do you have in your G73JW? It wouldn't do to suggest a laptop that costs $4K but only runs 15% faster.
Sager/Clevo are good options at the top end of the market.
Check out a desktop replacement system that used a desktop CPU (as in Core i7-950) Sager NP7280 Custom Laptop
