Yes -- repeating yourself after 5 minutes have gone by without a
response isn't going to increase the odds of someone responding. Most
people that check news regularly check a time or two a day, so you
should leave 12-24 hours before assuming the post hasn't gotten anywhere
and needs reposting. I usually allow more like 3 days, myself...

You wouldn't give any possible chance to some sort of duplication error
with a server or the newsreader? I guess not.
