Just read the p3 CPU scaling article by Schmid. He basically dismisses slot p3s as hard to find anywhere. I did quick look on Multiwave and SpartanTech and saw any speed I wanted in slot, 100 or 133 FSB. What is he talking about?

I haven't read that article, but I can give a probable explanation to why he says it is "rare." Slot 1 processors have higher production costs than FCPGA processors, which usually ends up in a higher price for the consumer. Also, the technology is changing to that FCPGA processors will "take over," and Slot 1 processors are trying to be phased out. This results in higher demand for FCPGA processors, and on top of that, most if not all modern boards for Intel processors support FCPGA processors, not Slot 1. The higher demand would cause Intel to make more FCPGA than Slot 1 processors.

Not only that, but with cheap slocket converters around, there's very little point in making the slot1 p3 anymore. Even industrial PCs (backplane/SBC combos) are switching to flip chips.
