Hi,

Working on an old Compaq Presario F700 that I wiped and unsuccessfully attempted to install Ubuntu on. I ended up installing XP on it BUT I DON'T HAVE ANY DRIVERS(!). I have an unused copy of Windows 7 on a disc; however, it will not install from the disc. I've changed the boot order to start with the CD/DVD drive, but it does not give me the option to install. I've tried mounting the ISO using Daemon Tools that I managed to install on XP but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Thanks, all.

1) Is it a genuine original copy Windows 7 CD? If not, verify that the image was burned correctly (assuming you do have the license key).
2) Try a different DVD boot disk to verify that the DVD drive does work (you mentioned already selecting the boot order)
3) Make a bootable USB stick with the windows 7 install media on it
4) Swap DVD drives with a spare (if one is available)
