It has been a while since I looked at monitors and there are so many varieties now that I don't know which one to pick. I am looking for a monitor that will give me an overall great experience. I play games like Battlefield 3 and occasionally do some photo editing in photoshop.

I currently have a HP 2210m LCD monitor.

I have been looking at this Dell monitor but I dont really know much about it other than people seem to like it:

Only bad thing about the money above is some people say it needs calibrated and had bad colors out of box.

I am looking for a monitor around 23" I think. I will pay for a higher price monitor if it is worth it but I don't want to spend $500 on the latest and greatest technology. The least amount of money I can spend for a quality monitor will do fine.

Any recommendations?

8ms Response Time isn't good for BF3, I think

I have heard from a lot of people that response time is a marketing scheme. From what I have read you will not notice any ghosting with 8ms response time, but I could be wrong.

You really want 5ms or less, 2ms is perfect. Try this one out, Asus VS Series. They are MLG certified, are LED backlit, have HDMI in and are very reliable. The latest batch does appear to have some ghosting issues though, bad batch from the factory.
